Not all musicians and singers on Twitter use the service just to plug their latest eye-scratching, ear burning album or gig. Some, like these folk below, just get on with making us laugh whether they mean to or not.

Who: Nick Cave (@nickcave)
Why?: A fake account set up by a knowledgeable fan who revels the dark brooding stereotype of the famous singer.
Sample Tweet: “Drinking a Pumpkin Spice Latte and scribbling in my journal. What rhymes best with apothecary? Mortuary? Marionberry?”

Who: Weird Al Yankovic (@ALyankovic)
Why?: The original pop parodyist gets a new lease of life on Twitter posting funny links, pictures and random musings. The most common topics are his wife and celebrities.
Sample Tweet: “Didn’t see anybody famous sitting in First Class. If this plane crashes, I am TOTALLY getting the headline!”

Who: The Fat Jew (@thefatjew)
Why?: A corrosive rapper whose appearance is defined by a White Afro, regular semi-nudity and whose behaviour always seems to err on the side of foul and nasty. Still, it makes for a funny twitter account.
Sample Tweet: “Saw Lindsay Lohan at a club in LA, she looks awful, I think she may be dead and people are just propping her up like in “Weekend at Bernies””

Who: Astonishing Sod (@astonishingsod)
Why?: The profile of Dublin electronic musician Hunter Gatherer who regularly drops ribbing updates where word-play, surrealism, one-liners and misnomers all meet.

Who: Tim Westwood (@TimWestwood)
Why?: The BBC Radio One hip-hop DJ and world’s number one wigga is prone to leaving strange and almost indecipherable tweets you just have to chuckle at. From assembling flat-packed furniture to sexual tension with his house cleaner to falling asleep standing up in the club, it’s all a bit bizarre.
Sample Tweet: “Up in Sheffield at Club Vibe. It’s raining, cold & not a firework in sight let alone a bonfire. But none of that matters cos it ain’t hip hop.”

Social Networking – The Movie (Huh?)

Look, I love social networking but this has gone too far! Variety is reporting that David Fincher is interested in directing an Aaron Sorkin-scripted film for Columbia Pictures about the formation of Facebook called The Social Network. Oh dear. yes, David Fincher – the guy who directed Seven, Fight Club, Zodiac and the frankly-awful-I-don’t care-what-anyone-says-one-eye-on-the-Forrest-Gump-Oscar The Curious Case of Benjamin Button. Come on. Aaron Sorkin has even setup a Facebook group about the proposed movie.

According to Variety:

The film will focus on the evolution of Facebook from its 2004 creation on the Harvard campus by sophomore Mark Zuckerberg to a juggernaut with more than 200 million members.

Is a website, no matter how awesome and hands-across-the-world it happens to be worthy of a movie? What next?? Twitter: The Movie?? Uh-oh. Too late. Have we not learnt from our past? Movies about the internet and computers are not cool. Remember Hackers? Sandra Bullock in The Net?? Please David Fincher and Aaron Sorkin learn from these awful movies…

Everyone knows* that the band employ a bunch of musicians behind a screen off-stage to play the songs live because they are such incompetent musicians but when the band appeared on Jools Holland, he demanded they play themselves resulting in this abomination…
