Snoop Dogg feat. Gorillaz

After Snoop made an appearance on Gorillaz’s recent album Plastic Beach, Albarn and co. have returned the favour for Snoop’s upcoming album Doggumentary on a laid back tune called Sumthin Like This Night.

bit.ly/snoopillaz

Eddie Vedder on ukelele?

After Amanda Palmer’s EP from last year, It seems the ukelele is back in fashion. Pearl Jam’s Eddie Vedder has got in on the act by announcing the release of the imaginatively titled Ukulele Songs. The album will feature appearances from Cat Power and Glen Hansard.
bit.ly/ukevedder

James Vincent McMorrow covers Will Smith

James McMorrow is obviously a fan of Jimmy Fallon’s Neil Young style cover of Whip My Hair, as he delivers a similar version for Ray D’Arcy’s Today FM radio show.

bit.ly/jameswillow

The Weeknd

Little is known about the Canadian act that uses R&B vocals and Siouxsie And The Banshees samples as a jumping off point for their warped electronic pop stylings. Download the free mixtape.

Daft Punk & N.E.R.D.
Hypnotize U is the synth-driven new R&B single from Pharrell and co., most notable for the production from Daft Punk.
Listen at We All Want Someone

Museum of Bellas Artes
Those Swedes are at it again. Adding to the country’s impressive electro-pop roster, this Stockholm three piece release a debut 7” through the Transparent Blog this month and know their way around Balearic dance, bubblegum melodies and piano-led gems.
http://www.myspace.com/museumofbellasartes

New Gorillaz song
Featuring the unknown UK singer Daley, Gorillaz surprise new single Doncamatic has an electro-reggae and pop swing. Bring on the November gig.

Jamie Woon – Night Air
Three years after creating a masterpiece of a remix for Woon (google Wayfaring Stranger remix) Burial produces this gorgeous and atmospheric night-time future-blues ballad. Reminiscent of Massive Attack at their finest.

Crookers & Roisin Murphy
The Irish disco diva hooks with dance producers Crookers (who play Dublin on April 4th) for the dancefloor-friendly Royal T.
http://bit.ly/royalt

Paul Weller remixed
During his mid-’90s renaissance, Portishead remixed Weller’s Wild Wood. Now with a new album on the way, it should be no surprise that producer Leo Zero was asked to remix No Tears To Cry into a bright and breezy modern Northern Soul song. Beautiful.
http://bit.ly/wellerleo

MGMT – Flash Delirium
From their forthcoming album Congratulations, this new MGMT song features a flute solo, mystic lyrics and delves deeper into the psychedelic recesses of their musical canon. Kids it ain’t.
http://www.whoismgmt.com

Gorillaz’ bonus track
Taken from the Japanese version of Plastic Beach, Pirate’s Progress is an extended version of the orchestral intro which goes into Bernard Herrman territory. That Albarn guy sure is talented.

Gorillaz unleash Stylo
From the forthcoming third album Plastic Beach, Stylo features guest vocalists Bobby Womack and Mos Def and suggests this will be the best Gorillaz album yet.
http://short.ie/stylo

State.ie’s faces of 2010 mixtape

New Daft Punk?
Purporting to be the title track from the French duo’s soundtrack to the film Tron:Legacy, Fragile leaked onto blogs last week. It certainly sounds a bit like them but there’s no confirmation as yet.

Bryan Ferry works with Groove Armada
The former Roxy Music singer collaborates with Groove Armada on their best track in years; a plaintive and heartfelt electronic tune called Shameless.
